Public Reaction to Otis Fuckin' Redding
Dustin De Leon's report on the public reaction to his "Otis Fuckin' Redding" shirt while at an Oakland A's game:
"Here goooes: 3 high fives, 1 set of rolled eyes, 1 "Fuck yeah!", 1 "Is that from a movie?" which led to someone interested in Colemine, 1 mom shooting me the "how dare you?!?" look and diverting her daughter's view and 1 (very amazing) conversation with a man in his 60s or 70s who saw Mr. Redding perform at the Whiskey in Hollywood in '65 or '66. He recalled the experience so vividly, there may have been something in my eye. He had a chance to speak to the man and thank him for the experience to which Otis shook his hand, gave him a hug and said "You see, THAT'S what it's all about my friend. Love, respect and music, baby!" I choose to believe every word this stranger said because the same something was in his eye too. All because of Otis Fuckin' Redding!"
